Conference Paper, titled, " DIGITAL BILL: AN APPROACH TO MINIMIZE ILLICIT ACTIVITIES AND OTHER DRAWBACKS OF CRYPTO CURRENCY"

Client: " STAR Global Conference 2023 " arranged by STAR SCHOLARS NETWORK in association with "University of Vigo", Spain.

The Challenge

Md Romel Sharif faced several challenges while developing and presenting his conference paper “Digital Bill: An Approach to Minimize Illicit Activities and Other Drawbacks of Cryptocurrency.” He had to overcome conceptual and technical difficulties in designing a new digital currency model that ensures security, transparency, and user trust. Integrating advanced features like private key regeneration, DEX hacking prevention, and blockchain-based identity tracking required balancing privacy with regulation. Additionally, proposing a volunteer committee for governance raised questions about decentralization and control. Despite these obstacles, he successfully presented a novel framework addressing key issues of money laundering, cyber risks, and limited public acceptance in cryptocurrency systems.

Our Solution

Md Romel Sharif proposed a set of innovative solutions in his paper “Digital Bill: An Approach to Minimize Illicit Activities and Other Drawbacks of Cryptocurrency.” His main solution was the creation of a new digital currency called Digital Bill (DB) — a secure, trackable, and reliable alternative to traditional cryptocurrencies. To solve the problems of money laundering, cyberattacks, and lack of trust, he suggested several key features: no mining requirement to avoid energy waste and manipulation; cybersecurity protection and DEX hacking prevention to reduce fraud; private key regeneration so users could recover access after hacks; and depository insurance to protect user assets. He also introduced a volunteer regulatory committee to monitor and reissue DB units in case of cyberattacks, ensuring system integrity. Furthermore, he proposed embedding IP addresses, IMEI numbers, and location data into blockchain blocks to track illicit activities and improve transparency. Together, these measures aimed to create a safer, more accountable, and universally accepted cryptocurrency ecosystem.

About the Project

Md Romel Sharif’s project, titled “Digital Bill (DB): An Approach to Minimize Illicit Activities and Other Drawbacks of Cryptocurrency,” proposes a new digital currency model designed to make cryptocurrency safer, more transparent, and widely acceptable. The Digital Bill (DB) functions as a secure digital version of a bill of exchange, offering features like cybersecurity protection, private key recovery, DEX hacking prevention, and depository insurance. It also includes tracking elements (IP, location, and device data) to deter money laundering and illicit transactions. Managed by a volunteer committee to ensure fairness and security, the DB system aims to build user trust and promote responsible adoption of blockchain technology.

Our Process

Problem Identification

Problem Identification

He began by identifying major issues in existing cryptocurrencies, such as money laundering, cyberattacks, and lack of public trust and regulatory acceptance.

Conceptual Framework Development

Conceptual Framework Development

He designed the idea of a new digital currency called Digital Bill (DB) — a secure, traceable, and regulation-friendly alternative to traditional cryptocurrencies.

Analytical and Technical Integration

Analytical and Technical Integration

Romel incorporated technical solutions like private key regeneration, DEX hacking prevention, and depository insurance, combining blockchain mechanics with cybersecurity features.

Governance Model Formulation

Governance Model Formulation

He proposed forming a volunteer regulatory committee to oversee the DB network, verify transactions, and reissue digital bills after any cyberattack to maintain system reliability.

Implementation Strategy and Data Design

Implementation Strategy and Data Design

He detailed how DB transactions would include device and network identifiers (e.g., IP, IMEI, MAC address) within blockchain blocks to prevent illicit use and ensure traceability.

Documentation and Presentation

Documentation and Presentation

Finally, he compiled the research findings, framework, and proposed solutions into a formal paper and presented it at the STAR Global Conference 2023, demonstrating how the DB system could enhance security and trust in digital currency ecosystems.
